Graduating Leaders

When the accomplishments of your young adult comes to an end with a B.S., in Health Sciences and the only thing that is positive about the Covid-19 pandemic was that Calli Sutcliffe with all of her accomplishments is also participating in her fifth year as a graduating senior that has been selected into St Louis graduate school allowing here to participate in another year of Softball, when the saying dreams do come true is an understatement. 2022 • SENIOR • Earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete accolades. • Named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll. • Made 10 appearances, all in relief. • Tossed two scoreless innings vs. SIUE. • Did not allow a run in 1 2/3 innings vs. George Mason. • Pitched a scoreless frame in a win over Western Illinois. 2021 • JUNIOR • Earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete accolades. • Named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll. • Made 12 appearances, all in relief. • Pitched a scoreless inning in a 3-2 win over Southern Illinois. • Tossed a scoreless frame in game two of the doubleheader at Dayton. • Struck out two in the home series finale vs. Dayton. BEFORE SLU Pitched two seasons at John A. Logan College, posting a 17-11 record with 21 complete games … earned All-Conference and All-Region accolades as a freshman … made the NJCAA All-Academic third team as a freshman … member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society … made the President’s List in spring 2020 and the Vice President’s list her first three semesters … at Herrin, was a second-team All-State choice as a junior, All-Conference as a junior and senior, and the team’s Most Valuable Player as a senior … National Honor Society member … played travel ball with Southern Illinois Force (Sullivan). Leading is not the same as being a leader. Being the leader means you hold the highest rank, either by earning it, good fortune, or navigating internal politics. Leading, however, means that others willingly follow you—not because they have to, not because they are paid to, but because they want to.  The bond that gets established with teammates through multiple seasons is irreplaceable sharing memories learning life skills while transitioning into adulthood and creating everlasting friendships, is one of the buy products, getting through all hidden pressures buy accomplishing one of the most important victories of your young adulthood is priceless congratulation 2022 Billikens Softball Job Well Done.
